Progressive Students Express Solidarity with Cuba
A delegation from the Federation of Progressive Students visited the Cuban Embassy in Islamabad on 25 June 2026 and held a cordial meeting with Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero Torres.
Led by General Secretary Fatima Shahzad, the student delegation exchanged views on the situation in Cuba, the impact of the US embargo and the unilateral coercive measures faced by the Cuban people. They were also briefed on the steps taken by the Cuban nation to respond with creativity and resilience.
The students expressed their solidarity with the Cuban people and reiterated their support for the sovereignty of Cuba, along with their rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States. They also presented the ambassador with a Letter of Solidarity with Cuba and a painting made by Fatima Shahzad.
The delegation said it planned activities for 26 July and discussed efforts to organise donations for the island. Ambassador Damián Cordero Torres thanked the students for the visit and their support, saying their gesture reflected genuine gratitude for Cuba’s solidarity.
