Veterans Shine at ITF MT200 in Khao Lak

Lahore — Bank of Punjab-backed veterans Rashid Malik and Khurram Imtiaz clinched singles crowns at the ITF MT200 tournament played on the hard courts of the Robinson Hotel Khao Lak, underscoring Pakistan’s presence on the World Masters Tour.

In the Men’s Singles 60+ final, Rashid Malik produced a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over Switzerland’s Hannes Aeberhard. The straight-sets scoreline belied a contest of long baseline rallies in which Malik’s serve proved the decisive weapon throughout the match.

In the Men’s Singles 55+ category, Khurram Imtiaz secured the title after Switzerland’s Oliver Marjanovic withdrew due to illness, resulting in a walkover. This victory marks Imtiaz’s second ITF title in the 55+ age group and adds to Pakistan’s veteran tennis achievements.

Earlier, the doubles pairing of Waqar Nisar (PAK) and Boguslaw Stachurski (POL) staged a strong fight but fell in the Men’s Doubles 55+ semi-final, losing 0-6, 7-6, 6-10 to the Swiss–German duo of Oliver Marjanovic and Andreas Petermann.

The results at the ITF MT200 in Khao Lak reflect growing depth in Pakistan’s veteran ranks and the continued role of sponsors like the Bank of Punjab in supporting players on the international stage.
