Advancing Labour Health in Punjab through Partnership
Commissioner Punjab Social Security Mr. Muhammad Ali, accompanied by the Project Manager of the International Labour Organization, visited the Health Services Academy Islamabad and was received by Prof Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of HSA. The delegation discussed collaborative strategies to strengthen healthcare services for the labour community and their families in Punjab’s industrial areas, with an emphasis on improving labour health and access to quality care.
Participants focused on measures to enhance service delivery, reinforce social protection mechanisms and implement sustainable health initiatives tailored to workers’ needs. Prof Dr Shahzad Ali Khan reaffirmed HSA’s commitment to partnering with national and international stakeholders to promote health equity and ensure vulnerable labour groups receive adequate healthcare support.
Both sides agreed to continue joint efforts to design evidence based interventions targeting occupational health and welfare services. The visit represents a significant step toward deeper cooperation between government institutions and international organizations to improve labour health outcomes and wellbeing for Pakistan’s workforce.
