Naval Delegation Conducts Parliament Visit
A 114-member delegation from the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course visited the Parliament House today as part of an inland study tour, receiving a warm welcome from senior officials of the Senate Secretariat. The Parliament visit offered the delegation first-hand exposure to parliamentary procedures and institutional roles.
Syed Hasnain Haider, Secretary Senate, briefed the group on the Senate’s role, structure and working procedures, explaining how the Upper House represents federating units on the basis of equality and helps promote national harmony while safeguarding the interests of smaller provinces. The briefing underscored the Senate’s distinct mandate within Pakistan’s bicameral legislature.
The Secretary outlined the core functions of the Senate in legislation, oversight, accountability and representation, emphasising how these responsibilities underpin transparent governance. Delegates took keen interest throughout the session and engaged in a substantive question-and-answer exchange, during which the Secretary responded comprehensively to their queries about parliamentary practice and institutional processes.
The visit strengthened understanding between naval officers and parliamentary officials by highlighting the significance of institutional transparency and democratic governance in Pakistan. At the conclusion of the Parliament visit, the delegation expressed appreciation for the Senate Secretariat’s role in fostering effective oversight and federal representation.
