Islamabad dengue update 24 new cases and response efforts

The District Health Office Islamabad reported a fresh rise in dengue cases and said intensified vector-control measures are underway across the city to contain further spread. Health teams have confirmed 24 new cases in the past 24 hours and ramped up spraying, fogging and larval-site elimination while enforcing public health rules.

Health officials said 24 new dengue infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, including 16 from rural areas and 8 from urban neighborhoods. Fifteen of the newly diagnosed patients required hospital admission. So far this season, 410 confirmed dengue cases have been reported. The office added that patient care and outbreak response are being conducted in accordance with World Health Organization protocols.

As part of control operations, teams performed residual insecticide spraying at the homes of 20 confirmed patients and surrounding areas. Fogging was carried out at 101 locations to reduce adult mosquito populations. Vector-control crews have also eliminated 9,105 positive larval sites and completed a total of 41,642 dengue-control activities citywide.

The District Health Office and the Directorate of Health Services CDA/MCI said their vector-control teams are working in coordination, focusing on high-risk zones and expanding special operations to accelerate anti-dengue efforts. The district administration is also imposing fines and pursuing legal action against individuals or entities that violate standard operating procedures intended to prevent transmission.

Authorities urged residents to take preventive measures, especially by regularly cleaning water-storage containers, tanks and coolers to remove mosquito breeding sites. Officials stressed that community cooperation is essential to protect individual and public health and to help stop further spread of dengue.
