National Book Foundation Naat Mushaira in Lahore

The National Book Foundation’s Lahore regional office hosted a Naat recitation mushaira to mark the blessed month of Eid Milad-un-Nabi and the 1500th birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad. The event, organized under the Federal Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, was chaired by poet Ghulam Hussain Sajid and brought together leading Lahore poets and a large audience of literary enthusiasts.

Organized by the National Book Foundation, the gathering aimed to celebrate devotional poetry and promote literary activity beyond Islamabad. Ghulam Hussain Sajid presided over the proceedings, while Salman Basit and Naziya Rehman served as hosts and coordinators. The program featured performances of Naat and readings that created a solemn and celebratory atmosphere.

Several prominent Lahore poets took the stage, including Saud Usmani, Hamida Shaheen, Anjum Khaliq, Salman Gilani, Tauqeer Ahmed Shareefi, Shahid Ashraf, Naveed Ghazi, and Qasoor Khaliq. Each recitation was met with appreciation from an audience that included notable local personalities and members of the public, both men and women.

In his remarks, Ghulam Hussain Sajid praised the National Book Foundation for extending its literary and cultural work to major cities across the country. He described the mushaira as a significant literary tribute and an expression of devotion, and he commended the Foundation’s managing director, Dr. Kamran Jahangir, for initiating and promoting such events nationwide.

Dr. Kamran Jahangir thanked the guests and attendees for their participation and reiterated the Foundation’s mission to organize literary programs in major cities on its national platform. He said the aim is to provide poets, writers and literary enthusiasts with opportunities to engage with and benefit from poetry and literature, and he called for continued cooperation and guidance from the literary community.

The event concluded on a positive note, with organizers expressing gratitude to participants and attendees for making the mushaira a success. The National Book Foundation affirmed its commitment to expanding cultural programming and supporting literary exchange across Pakistan.
