Key Highlights from PHEC 41st Commission Meeting 2025

The Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) convened its 41st Commission meeting at the Arfa Software Technology Park in Lahore, bringing together leading figures from academia, government departments, and the education sector to discuss policy directions and strategic initiatives for higher education in the province.
The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (HI, SI), Chairperson of the PHEC. Among the distinguished participants were Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Chairperson of the Accreditation Committee, and Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) Lahore. Additional key attendees included Ms. Zahida Azher, Additional Secretary of the Higher Education Department (HED), as well as representatives from the Secretaries of Specialized Health, Finance, and Agriculture Departments.
Other notable figures present included Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Chairman of the Board of Governors at Multan University of Science & Technology, Prof. Dr. Nighat Zafar, Principal of Government Graduate College for Women Gulberg, Lahore, and Dr. Mansoor Ahmad Baluch, Chief Operating Officer of PHEC. The diverse participation underscored the commission’s commitment to collaborative policy-making and stakeholder engagement.
Discussions at the meeting centered on the current challenges and opportunities facing higher education institutions across Punjab, with a focus on accreditation, institutional development, and interdepartmental coordination. The Commission emphasized the importance of upholding academic standards, fostering innovation in teaching and research, and ensuring alignment between educational outcomes and market needs.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the PHEC’s dedication to strengthening the province’s higher education framework through continued dialogue, transparency, and partnership with key stakeholders.
