Pakistan Azerbaijan Parliamentary Talks Strengthen Ties

A Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov in Baku, reaffirming strategic ties and mutual support on key regional issues.

During the meeting, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq described his recent interactions with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova as highly constructive and productive. He congratulated Prime Minister Asadov on the successful organization of the recent Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, terming Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in this event a clear demonstration of the solidarity and goodwill between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of Pakistan, the Speaker acknowledged Azerbaijan’s steadfast support on the Kashmir issue. He also warmly welcomed Azerbaijan’s announcement to invest two billion dollars in Pakistan, stating that this commitment would further strengthen bilateral economic relations.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the importance of enhancing parliamentary ties between the two brotherly countries. In this regard, he proposed holding a trilateral speakers’ conference in Islamabad in September, aimed at reinforcing dialogue among regional parliaments.

Prime Minister Ali Asadov reiterated Azerbaijan’s consistent and principled stance regarding Kashmir, reaffirming his country’s continued diplomatic support for Pakistan’s position. In parallel, Asadov expressed sincere appreciation to Pakistan for backing Azerbaijan in relation to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, underscoring the reciprocal nature of the two countries’ diplomatic cooperation.

Both leaders welcomed the recent implementation of the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, considering it a significant step towards enhancing trade and economic integration.

Addressing core issues of concern to Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Asadov firmly reaffirmed that his country would never compromise on its sovereignty and territorial integrity under any circumstances.
