Unite to End Digital Violence in Pakistan
During the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the NCRC team gathered to raise awareness and advocate for the global theme Unite to End Digital Violence against women and girls. As technology becomes ever more central to daily life, the forms of abuse and exploitation that children face are evolving. Digital violence — from cyberbullying and online harassment to non-consensual sharing of information and other tech-facilitated harms — continues to silence voices and restrict safe participation in online spaces.
The Chairperson NCRC, Ayesha Raza Farooq, together with NCRC members and the technical team, shared powerful messages calling for a safer digital environment. Each message underlined the need to stand with survivors, improve digital literacy and promote responsible online behaviour that upholds the dignity and rights of all individuals, especially children.
Through these communications NCRC reaffirmed its commitment to a society where technology empowers rather than harms. The organisation emphasised preventive measures, support for survivors and the importance of collective action by families, educators, civil society and technology stakeholders to reduce instances of digital violence.
As Pakistan marks the 16 Days of Activism, NCRC urged continued public engagement to challenge harmful practices, expand reporting and support mechanisms, and teach safe online practices to young users. Sustained attention to digital literacy and protection will be essential to ensure that online spaces are safe and inclusive for women and girls.
